More about Simon Latham

Simon completed an Art Foundation Course at Kingston University and a Bachelor of Fine Art at Oxford University. He continued sculpting via residencies at Plymouth College, (stone carving), Repton School (crucifix), Peterborough Cathedral (Lord of the Dance) before training as a teacher at the Institute of Education, London University.

Retiring from teaching in 2018 he now focuses more on his craft and initially worked on a retrospective exhibition for Peterborough Cathedral (Lord of the Dance) which  was then taken to Wells Museum. He also works on portrait busts, and exhibited a piece in G3 FACE 2021 | portrait-sculpture .

Simon moved back to carving in 2019, gradually revisiting old themes and exploring new ones, He had some pieces of lime which he was given in 1990 and took much pleasure in finally being able to carve them. He also had two smaller pieces cast in bronze (thanks to Talos Foundry and only right they should showcase here) one an old maquette for a stone carving, the other a new piece. Both relate to carvings and he hopes to develop further ideas, as carvings, in bronze and perhaps other media.
