Tom Humphreys

Devizes-based artist Tom Humphreys presents a collection of all-new botanical studies for Talos Gallery’s Summer Exhibition 2026. Working in finely rendered pencil, Humphreys’ drawings reveal an exceptional attention to detail, capturing the structure, delicacy, and individuality of each flower with quiet precision.

This exhibition marks Humphreys’ second time exhibiting, following his debut last year—his first occasion showing work publicly. Despite a long-standing dedication to observational drawing, his practice has remained largely private until recently. His introduction to exhibiting came through the encouragement of his wife, Mandy, who approached the gallery on his behalf and persuaded him to share his work with a wider audience.

Tom's botanical studies reflect a patient, methodical approach rooted in close observation. Each piece invites the viewer to look more carefully, revealing the subtle complexities of familiar plant forms through meticulous draftsmanship. His work sits within a long tradition of botanical illustration, while retaining a distinctly personal sensitivity.​.
