A SUMMER BURSTING WITH COLOUR

This year Talos Summer Exhibition 2026 is all about colour, bringing together a spectacular collection of paintings and sculpture in the unpretentious charm of our gallery buildings and the intimate seclusion of our breath-taking gardens.

Our exhibition hosts exuberant new work by both established and emerging artists, including exciting major installations by Anya Beaumont and a brand new selection of Philip Booth’s celebrated polychrome wall sculptures. These are joined by vividly coloured fired-clay sculptures by Patricia Volk FRSS and the bold, chromatic paintings of Romany Mark Bruce, who describes his approach as ‘sculpting in colour’. Add to this the vivid work of Anthony Mark Dike 'the digital artist with an analogue soul' alongside the geometric aesthetic of Tom Bates and the riot is complete.

Not to be outdone, we expect the garden to rise to the challenge with its customary pageant of roses and drifts of wildflowers providing a stunning backdrop for the elegant stone carvings of Sandra Camargo and stately stainless steel abstracts by Ian Marlow.

WELCOMING ARTISTS NEW TO TALOS

Patricia Volk: Sculpture is always evolving, pushing beyond expectation and reimagining what form can be. It is in this spirit that we are delighted to welcome Patricia Volk to Talos this summer. Challenging the misconception that classical sculpture was colourless, she uses colour to animate pared-back forms, exploring tensions between strength and fragility, stability and precariousness. Working directly in clay with coiling and slab-building techniques, her one-off pieces are fired and finished with acrylic colour and will be quite the show pieces throughout our gallery and gardens.

Lucy Milne : After more than thirty years working in pastels, artist Lucy Milne has recently begun exploring oil painting, producing bold, colourful portraits of friends, fellow artists from the Heatherley School of Art in London, and private commissions.Drawing on her deep observational experience, Lucy’s new oil works introduce a vibrant palette that pushes her practice into exciting new territory — and perfectly embodies our theme of COLOUR.

Romany Mark Bruce: An Irish-born artist whose practice has been shaped by a long standing exploration of form, symbolism and colour. Romany Mark Bruce is best known for designing the HIV/AIDS Memorial in New Steine Gardens, Brighton — and important site of reflection and remembrance. Alongside his public sculptures, he has exhibited widely as a painter and brings a strong sense of structure and colour to the canvas. We are delighted to welcome him to Talos Art Gallery Summer Exhibition 2026.
